What's Going on With Waterloo Fiber?
The holidays are upon us! At Waterloo Fiber, this means gearing up for temp drops so that we can continue doing installations over the winter, along with some office decorating to bring the holiday spirit!
We are continuing to make progress towards opening our Phase 2 area for service. Over the next few weeks, more areas will become available, meaning more customers can get connected!

We have a test customer live in Phase 2! This means we can slowly start opening areas in the east/northeast areas of Waterloo. If you’ve already submitted a survey, keep an eye out for an email from us to confirm services! It’s Time for Temp Drops!
In order to continue connecting customers over the winter and into the spring, Waterloo Fiber crews will be performing temporary drops, or “temp drops” rather than burying the fiber cable. Because of the low temps, heavy snow, and frozen soil, this is the best way to be able to provide service during this chilly season. Read more about temp drops here.
Giving Hope Volunteering
Waterloo Fiber staff had the opportunity to help hand out Thanksgiving meal kits and turkeys through the Giving Hope program! This program provided families and individuals with food for Thanksgiving completely free of charge. Our staff volunteered to help carry bags and hand out turkeys, and we were so thankful to be able to connect with our community in such a meaningful way!
Bringing the Holiday Spirit to Waterloo Fiber
We’re bringing the winter vibes to our office with some festive window art and seasonal decorating! A special thanks to the Whimsical Twist for sprucing up our windows and creating this special winter scene.
